New here, question about taking medication

They will explain about your meds before you have surgery. Mostly if the pills are small you can swallow them with a sip of water. If they are larger but scored, you can cut them in half or crush them or maybe take them in liquid form. Anything that is time released will either have to be substituted for another drug for the first month, or your pharmacist can check whether time-release pills can be emptied of the capsule and consumed that way. It just depends.
The good news is that a lot of medicines are discontinued after surgery. I'm off all three of my BP meds and my cholesterol meds too. I've successfully cut my anti-anxiety med dose in half and working on getting rid of it altogether. Of course, new meds have been added--- bariatric vitamins and iron for me. Good luck to you, and fill out your profile so we know who you are!

Welcome, I have a lap band and I don't have any trouble taking any of my pills some of them are large. Best wishes to u.

Hi, I'm new to this site. I'm Sesheta and I'm 63 year old female. I'm having a gastric sleeve procedure on August5 14, 2014. My question is this: I take several meds. Do I take them one after the other with sips or water, or do I have to wait awhile between pills?

Hi Sesheta! WELCOME to the Forum!!!

I took my pills one after the other at the same time. What ever pills you can get in chewable form helps a lot.

Cheyenne.
