Hello
I am new to discussion groups. I have been overweight all my life, however I've been an active person. Right now I am almost 2 months post RNY with complications. As my dr said I am that .1% that have complications but You are doing 17% better than those w/o complications. With the complications it has really put me in a rut. I had so many plans like going back to work in 2wks and now I have been off of work since the surgery and I'm itching to get back to the things that I had planned.

Thank you for any support and I have quite a few questions for different forums, but I thought I had support in a family member but she just blew me off and I haven't seen or talked to her since the beginning of November.......what support! (sorry just a little bitter)

Greetings, Yvette;

Sorry to hear about your lack of support in that family member. This site is good for information, recipes, etc..
Welcome!

Hi there,

I have not even had my surgery yet...which is in Feb....and have already lost most of my friends....my family would never do that to me, but I have learned in just one month...the awaiting the surgery who my friends are....I get the "lets have one more out to dinner" "you just wanna get skinny" "you are vain to think about your sagging skin" "you dont have to follow all the rules" "is that all you talk about" ya just to name a few.....so I have decided if that is what they wanna be like....I like everyone in here way better and again....I have family support....(my dad is scared for me, but still supportive).....welcome and I am so happy to have met you and be on this journey with you!

Well Yvette, we will not blow you off here. These npeople are nice and helpful. They care this group is the best. I had complications with my surgery so I had 2 surgeries I had Bypass and 2 days later my bowels errupted. Thank God nothing was in them or I would have been septic and might noit have been here to answer you. I am fine my operation was on Oct 22 2012 so I'm not quite 3 months out. But it took a little longer to feel better. But when I did I started doing things and my doctor advised walking. I went to look for a tread mill, like you I was active before. So, i decided on a stationary bike. Its cool all the controls a cup holder book holder lol. I started at 5 minutes and now sometimes I do 60 minutes. But it took a while to feel better. So, anything I can help you with I will. We have private messages. I am and open book so, I tell everything I do even if its screw ups. Lets see if we can get that bitter taste out of your mouth and put it back to normal again. I use to be a nurse then went to school for a special education teacher & assoc, degree in photography. God knows what I might do next lol. But research all I could get before surgury and I still am learning. I think you have found the right place at last. BTW if you live in Ohio Dayton we have support groups once a month. I attend all I can. But these folks here care & so do I welcome.
Hugs,
Angie :eek:

Sorry to hear about your "friends" abandoning you. That really sucks. Maybe their just jealous because you are taking control of your life and no longer doing whatever everyone else is doing. Good for you. It's your life and your health we are talking about. Don't let anyone sway you from what you need to do. As for your Dad, he'd be a pretty lousy Dad if he weren't worried about you. Also as the others have stated, we're here for you.
