I have been fighting with my weight all my life
I hit the point just this year that made me break down and lose it. I couldn't handle living like this anymore, I felt like I couldn't take care of myself the way I should be able to. I wanted to just call the undertaker and buy my pine box :-(, I was that low. Instead, I fought through it and contacted my insurance through work and found that they cover this kind of procedure, and that started my journey toward getting me back. (I lost myself years ago and am thrilled to begin to find a way home.)
I have found a doctor nearby to do the surgery and have gone through my psych evals and assessments by nurses to see if I qualify as a good candidate. I passed and have met with my surgeon, now we are in the waiting game where the insurance runs the numbers and gives the final approval (3 weeks of waiting). In the meantime, I have to have an EGD and Pulmonary Function test and AIC ran, they are doing that on 8/23/13. That way I can get it taken care of before surgery.
They want me to do a 2 week liquid diet beforehand and I was hoping to get some suggestions on the best tasting protein drinks to use.
I also need to talk to people who have gone through this successfully, cause the closer the date, the more nervous I am getting. I haven’t had any soda since 7/30/13 and no I can’t have it again if I want this to succeed, but sugar is a bit harder for me to give up. So, I need to know it can be done, please.
If someone wants to smack my hands when I reach for a donut, feel free.
