Hello, i am no new to the surgery as mine was done 2/21/11. I have lost 110 lbs but feel scared that may be all. I need to lose 25 more but seem to be at a standstill. Anyone done the 5 day pouch test?

SARAMOS-Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your fantastik weight loss :) :) :) My weight loss is almost at a stand still also but I can still only eat a very small amount of food at one time so I know my pouch is still tiny. Have you discussed your plateau with your nutritionist? You just may need to increase your activity level by exercising or maybe increase your protein while decreasing calories. I'm not in any position to give you advice based on my situation but these are some of the things my nutritionist recommended.

Hi Saramos, Welcome. Congratulations on your weight loss. Plateaus are all part of the journey, you have been doing a greatjob. The pouch test will give a a good jumpstart to your meal plan if you need it. First thing you need to do is to either journal or write down what you are eating including amount, when you are eating, how many times a day you are eating, water intake and how many timnes a week you exercise and for how long. It may be that you just need to adjust some meals, exercise and/or fluid intake. Some other key things to remember is not to drink any fluids 30 minutes before and 45 minutes afetr you eat and try to get 64 oz of fluids and 60 to 80 grams of protien a day. They say the last few pounds can be the most difficult I am still working on my last 15 lbs. Tom

Thank you for your advise. I just want this to work. Other people just don't get it. Unless you have been through this, you just don't understand. This is not a fix all. It takes work. I am very thankful for this support group.

Try not to worry about the weight loss, stress can be a our worst enemy. Just do your best to stay on track. You have come a long way and I am sure you will reach your goal in due time, until then keep up the good work because it is a tool and not a fix all. Tom

IT seems that the surgery forces you to be on a diet without much option to not be compliant. I have a hard time journaling food etc but will have to I suppose. I go tomorrow, to speak to the doc and find out when I get a date and when I start the diet to lose weight prior to surgery etc. I think will do it mid November or so IF they can fit me in there.

You've hit the nail right on the head Saramos. You can do all the research you want but until you actually have the surgery or at least ask someone who has had it you don't really know the truth. That's why I like this forum too, with few exceptions you get real facts from real people who have been there and done that. By the way, congratulations on your 107 pound weight loss :) :) :) Keep up the good work!!!

Hi Sandie, I hope everything is going ok for you. If it is difficult to journal just keep a little note pad with a pen close by and just make a not of what you are eating, I also had a hard time journaling so I just kept a small note pad with me so it didn't feel like I had to write a novel just to figure out what I needed to change. I know it can be frustrating when we have all these tests to do and meet all these conditions, so just keep trying to remember why you have chosen to have wls. Hang in there, and let us know how you are doing. Tom
