New to site. Had surgery on 8/12/15, down 20-24 lbs. I feel hungry and not satisfied with most of my meals. Any suggestions?

WELCOME JAYBEE!

Which surgery did you have? What are you eating? Are you eating mostly protein? This makes a difference in feeling full and satisfied. Drink your fluids, sip, sip, sip!

I had the gastric bypass. I do eat my protein, yet, its not fully satisfying. I should drink more water
I am mourning my coffee and BLT. Thank you for your suggestions and support.

Eventually you will be able to eat and drink the foods you miss as long as you eat tiny portions which should fill you up because your new sized tummy is able to hold about 2 oz. Eat slowly and chew, chew, chew!

I am eating 3oz protein and 2 tbs veggies. Breakfast is 3oz as per my hospital guidelines. NYU. Lunch 3oz and fruit

Sounds like your diet is good. You may have to modify your diet slightly, if you are hungry all the time. Talk to your nutritionist. I used to keep my chicken breast cut up into small chunks in the fridge and grab a chunk between meals as a snack. Some people need to eat more often than 3 times a day.

Good Luck!!!

Many times we THINK we're hungry since eating was a habit for us and nothing more. It takes time on this journey to undo our mindset of what was a pattern for so long in our minds that had made us obese to begin with, and many people, who had this procedure, often need to seek a therapist to get through the real reasons of why we over ate? If we don't correct our thoughts, our bodies will remain the same. It begins in the mind, and then the body will respond.
