Can you help me? I am 6 months out and my appetite does not seem to be satisfied. I am scared and was hoping to get some advice. I have not gained any weight back...but I always feel hungry. Can you give me some advice?

Are you drinking all the water your suppose to be? And getting protein? And maybe pick food that tend to stay with you a little longer. But water helps more then anything

i have to say that I am not good at getting water and protein in.

thank you for your advice. I will let you know how it all goes.

HI I understand what you are going through. I had my surgery in 9-20=-12 and I still have days where I feel hungry all day. I love water but still not crazy about the protein shakes all the time, although a lot of good protein recipes that been shared on here this past week and I have tried a few and they are good.check them out . I think my problem is, I am still fighting the battle of food that I had before I had the surgery, being a compulsive eater and eating when happy sad or just out of bordom.at least you're not gaining weight back so that is a good sign. there are days when I worry if my pouch is still working , but all it takes is when I try to eat too much it
is very painful or some foods just the smell of them makes me not want to eat. thank goodness we are all able to share our concerns and our triumphs on here. hope things go well for you as you continue your journey to a healthier you. also congratulations on your weight loss and keeping it off, I still have 60 more pounds I want to loose. take care, Donna

Welcome to the site.

These are a few things told to my friend who had Gastric Bypass done in 03, she had a lot of trouble being hungry also - her nutritionist told her:

1.Don't drink with food - this flushes the food too quickly and doesn't allow you to feel full. (dumping) But do drink enough fluids.

2.At every meal, protein should be your primary focus. Not only will it help you maintain your muscle mass while losing fat, but it will also help you feel full longer after meals.

3.Simple carbohydrates are highly processed foods such as white bread, pasta, sugar and white rice. Simple carbohydrates can elevate blood glucose levels, triggering hunger pangs and cravings.

I thought I was often feeling hungry too, because it seemed that my stomach was growling. My nutritionist said not to associate that feeling with hunger. She said it was just my intestines trying to do their job. I am getting the required protein and water, so I don't know if that's the difference for me or not, but maybe you're experiencing something similar??? Good luck!

Drink drink drink water teas coffee favored water. And get your protien then the scales will be in your favor. I had trouble with water, not before surgery but after. Its just I made my mind up to do this and I drink my water now. Protein is a must. Good luck you'll see a huge difference in your hunger pains, they won't be there as they are now.
