I had RNY on January 8, 2013. I have only lost 30lbs so far and that doesn't seem like much. Last week my weight stayed the same no loss at all and the week before that I only lost 1.5lbs. To me this seems like a really slow weight loss. I feel like I was losing more weight faster before surgery than I am after surgery and I eat WAY less! I workout everyday...35 minutes on treadmill and 35 minutes on stationary bike and I also lift kettle bell a few times a week. Any advice out there? Also, I am type 1 diabetic if that makes a difference.

hi LeslieG I know it's hard to not get discouraged about the amount of weight loss, I will tell you what I was told. The surgery has put our bodies into a different mode, it thinks we are starving it, and in reality we are eating a lot less than before. Once the body adjust to the new system we now have the weight starts coming off a little faster, there are people who loose massive weight at first and others whom loose at a slower pace. all of us want to loose a lot of weight , as a trade off for all the agony of surgery and pain and eating so little. I was also told that muscle weighs more than fat. with you working out so much you are building muscles which is good because they also say muscle makes us loose weight too in the long run. Have you talked to your nutrionist or your surgeon since surgery? others on here will give you advice too.keep getting in your protein and water and the pounds will come off. give yourself credit for the pounds you took off before surgery too. you're gonna be a success because you are willing to follow the plan and exercise, these are the most important factors. wishing you much success with your new journey to a healthier you. and welcome to this forum I have found a lot of good advice and met a lot of nice people in this room. They helped me before I had my surgery and since then too. take care,Donna

hi leslie,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far, My experience is similar as far as wight loss before and after surgery. But I know I am following the plan so I have no worries. I am also insulin dependent and it definitely has an effect on the rate of weight loss. It's is just a matter of settling in and being patient.

regards
