Still waiting

I am still waiting for insurance approval, it's been 2 weeks now. As soon as they approve then I get the go ahead and can schedule my surgery.

I am getting sooooo excited about it. I can't wait to feel better, not have sleep apnea and hopefully mellow out the arthritis in my ankle.

Thanks and good luck to you too!!! I have united healthcare insurance. They told me a week to a week and a half....we shall see how much longer I have to wait. I just want to get that ball rolling!

It only took 2 weeks to get back to me on insurance then It has been almost one month since I set the date. My surgery is the 17th of Sept and I have been seeing a bunch of doctors and nutritionist But now I am set This weekend is going to quiet and I don't plan on doing much of anything. First thing Monday morning is the start of my new life. Getting excited but a little scared at the same time.

2 weeks is not an unusually long time to wait for insurance approval. Some people on this forum waited many months and some got their approvals almost immediately. It wouldn't hurt to make a call to the surgeons office and polietly ask if they could make a follow up call to your insurance carrier. I'm not saying this is what's happening but sometimes the insurance carrier might be waiting for more documentation from the surgeon's office and by placing a call to your surgeon it gets the attention of both parties so that if there is anything that needs attention it helps get it moving in the right direction.

Hello Pat,
Thanks for the good advice. I am just around the corner from submitting to my insurance. If mine gets dragged on, I will make that polite call to the surgeons office. Thanks again for all the great advice from good people on here! Michele

My case worker from my insurance just called and approved my surgery!!!! I cant wait for the doctors office to call me to schedule it.

Wonderful news Billiep!!! Once you set up your surgery date time will fly by. Take some time between now and your surgery day to get things squared away at home to make things easier for you once you return home. You will probably have a little bit of a difficult time reaching and bending for a week or two so put things you use every day within easy reach. Catch up on your laundry and maybe get an extra weeks groceries for the family when you make your last trip before surgery for groceries. But don't stock up on things from your meal plan because a lot of time things taste different after surgery. You may not like the taste of certain protein shakes that you liked before surgery so just get a few until you know for sure.

You are also going to start feeling a rush of different emotions that may seem overwhelming at times. This is perfectly normal and we all went through this. Just relax and take things a day at a time and think of how much healthier you will be once your weight starts to drop :) :) :)
