Uncertain what is going on

It has been a while since my last post. I went to see the Surgeon for a check up, had been telling him I am still having trouble with eating. Had discussed this with the nutritionist also and posted here. I have lengthened my meal time to almost 1 hour, eating and chewing chewing chewing pieces about 1/2 of a pea size. Well, I lose interest in the food and stop. Even after the first bite or two it feels as though the food is not going down. I do not vomit, just feel sick after trying to eat. If I did not drink the protein shakes and take the vitamins I am sure I would not be well. I am scheduled for an endoscopy 10/24. possible stricture.... but i read where this usually causes vomiting. does anyone know about this??? I much prefer to drink my meals which i know is not good. Any advice????

I am guessing but I would think vomiting would occur is the pouch were too full. You may have a stenosis (narrowing) rather than a stricture (closed) and your well chewed food or liquid protein drink is emptying but very slowly. Please let us know the results of your endoscopy.

I am glad you are having further testing. Having had your surgery in May you should be able to tolerate food. What Pat said makes sense since you are not vomiting. I have read posts where some people have no interset in food for a long time after surgery, but it sounds like your situation goes beyond that. Best of luck and keep getting your protein in until the docs find out more.

Hi New RNY glad to hear from you. I agree with Pat. Let us know what the endoscopy turns up, keep trying your best and most importantly keep getting that protien in even if it is in a liquid shake. Tom
