I started taking Benefiber a little before surgery, thanks to Diane's sharing of her past horrific experience, and continued taking it daily after surgery, along with the prescription for Colace that they gave me. This past month I've switched to sf Metamucil, which absolutely is way too harsh until many months after surgery. Only had 2 small bouts of constipation, both times after indulging in a little bit too much cheese. Good luck!
