its been 1 year and 1 month since my surgery, i started at 318, now im 219, im off track eating stuff im not suppose to. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!.

Hi Joannis50, Welcome. First things first don't beat yourself up over this, wa are all only human and we are not perfect. Good now that we got that out of the way it's time to see what you have accomplished so far. You are down about 100 lbs from your starting weight, that is wonderful your doing great, I think that's close to where I was at the same time. Remember we are all differnt so we don't all lose at the same rate some lose weight quicker some slower.

OK it's good you have realized you are eating things your not supposed to so now you need a plan to curb that. I got hooked on surgar free icecrteam about 3 months ago, big mistake, i was going through two or three boxes of cones, bars and/or sndwiches a week, I noticed it a couple of weeks ago (I was in denial) I switched to surgar free yogurt and now I cut back to one 4 pack of skinny cow carmel cones a week, if I go over that I will have to stop altogether. That was my plan so you must know what your weekness is, if you want to treat yourself try in moderation, if that is impossable then stopping may be your best option, see if there is a healthier alternative that is high in protien and low in colories. I don't know if it is the best advice but that is what I am trying:rolleyes:

Hope I was able to help you out. What is it your eating maybe I can help you think of some good alternatives. Hang in there and remember the bypass is still there and it is a tool we can use to help us lose weight and get healthy, so you know you have what it takes. Tom

My surgery was 2 years and two months ago....I've lost about 120 pounds. I'm off track as well and don't know how to stop. I have not had any weight but no loss either for about a year! I'm scared to death and don't know what to do! I figured out if I eat sugar, then go to bed, I don't have dumping syndrome. My first question is, why am I even trying to fool anyone..especially myself? What makes me try to get around my surgery? I love my new life and my new body....but some little addiction devil inside seems to be stronger than my determination not to eat poorly! Please help! Can you believe that in all of Southern California (Los Angeles Area) I can't find a support group?

Hi Hollyballs, Welcome. Don't beat yourself up 120 lbs is great and you're real close to your goal weight, I am in the same boat except I had a little hic'cup in the middle and most recently have had to stop eatting surgar free icecreams because I was going through 3 or maore a day, so I cut back to one pack (4-6) a week and if that don't work then I have to stop altogether. Good thing is you know what your doing so now all you have to do is find an alternative, mine is surgarfree yogurt. So find a high protien alternative and google "bariatric support groups in Studio City" or "Baritric Specialist in Los Angeles" there you should find some support groups or some phone numbers to places that can send you in the right direction. Remeber the surgery is only a tool and will work if we use it, Hang ib there and let us know if you find a support group. Tom

Joannis50, I'm Krista in Nevada. Had RNY on Feb.8,2012. My Nutritionist told me that she learned to empower(sp?) herself by saying to herself that she "chooses" not to eat certain food. Rather than saying to yourself that you can't have or are deprived of a certain food. This has worked for me. I feel that food no longer has a hold on me. I can stop a craving by saying to myself that I choose not to eat it! I had become diabetic and was under a diatician's care for one year prior to surgery and had quit all sugar, cafiene, sweet breads. That was an enormous help to me. Good luck. Keep in touch. Kris

Hollyballs, My name is Kris and I am in Reno, Nevada. I had RNY on Feb.8,2012. I had become Diabetic and so I was working with a diatician for one year before surgery. I was off ALL SUGAR, Carbonated drinks, and sweetbreads. That made it enormously easier when I planned for surgery. I have been told by the diatician that work for my surgeon that I need to tell myself that I choose not to eat certain foods. Not that I can't or am Deprived of a food. This empowers (sp?) me over the food. I now can stop cravings by saying I CHOOSE not to eat it. Food no longer has control over me. Hope this helps. Keep in touch. Also, on this site you can search for groups by STATE. Good luck. Kris

My goodness does all of this sound so familiar. I want the little addict in me to be gone for good. After surgery, almost bleeding out from it and them a ventral hernia repair with complications, 6 months with a wound vac on to heal the hernia repair, and then a small bowel resection on top of all of that. Sheesh I am tired just typing that! LOL I have regained close to 40 lbs. Helpppppp me I am falling here.I also lost 3 best girlfriends since 2010 also. Too much drama in my life I think. Suggestions anyone??

Hi Bevie, Welcome. Please see the advice below. The good part is you recognize what is going on. You went through so much to get here so you know what to do, stop the bad habits but don't beat yourself up, we all slip once in a while, it's ok as long as we recognize it and turn it around. What surgery did you have? RnY, Sleeve or Band? Let us know how you are doing. Tom
