?? Reversal of the Gastric Bypass/ feeling exhausted

Where do I start? I had gastric bypass almost 3 years ago ,7 months after surgery I had my gallbladder out, at that time I ended up in Cardiac ICU for 2 days and that the cardiac floor for a total of 7 days, my blood pressure dropped and heart went out of normal rythem, never did get an answer as to why that happened, was only told they thought maybe I lost weight to fast. once I healed from that things where ok for awhile, started having low blood sugars which than spiraled out of control, I ended up going to the Mayo Clinic here in MN because my doctors thought I had an Insulinoma, which turned out wrong, the Mayo doctors told me my blood sugar issues are from the gastric bypass surgery and my only option would be to reverse the surgery.
Now I have been getting bad pain in my right rib area for awhile now, went in and had CT scan and was told nothing wrong and if keeps up go to the Gastro doctors again.
I am tired all the time, alls I want to do is sleep, I have had blood tests done and I am not anemic or anything, labs look great the doc says .I am watching what I eat, trying to add more protien and seems no matter what I do I do not feel any better.

The few people Ihave talked to are brand new to having gastric bypass so they are feeling great.I am really glad for them, but I want to feel great again. This is effecting my home life also, my boyfriend is always on me saying i do not want to do anything, and he is right I dont :(. My daughter granted she is 18 is also nagging at me all the time. i force myself to do things with them but not for very long because I am exhausted and end up going to lay down or bed for the night.
i am not depressed,BUT I am frustrated with medical care and no real answers.

Has anyone out there felt this way, Or has anyone had the reversal gastric bypass and feel better?

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. I'm sorry I cannot give you any advice, as I haven't had my surgery yet, but I wish you all the best.

Hi Pammy, Welcome. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. I am about 2 years an 2 months out with no ill sidaffects at this time, some of my vitamins were a little low at my two year check up so we upped the dosage. I haven't heard of a reversal of a bypass although ther is a lady in my support group who has developed low blood surgars and finds it hard to eat enough protien to keep her weight up. Please stay on the doctors to find out what is going on, your gallbladder is already out so they can eliminate that, so don't stop calling them until they get to the bottom of it. Let us know what you find out. Tom

Hi, I'm sorry I can't offer you any advice (I haven't even had my own surgery yet), but I did want to say hello and say that I am sorry you're having such a rough time right now. I hope you continue to get updates from your doctors so you can get some relief soon. Hang in there and hopefully things will start looking up soon.

Thank you everyone :). Trust me I will be stay on the doctors, I was just seen again and they cant figure out why I am having such stomach pain, they upped my Omperazol, so hopefully that helps with some of my issues.

Maybe you should get an EGD done. That would give them a view of the inside of your stomach. Maybe you have some serious ulcers due to stress. Please keep us posted.

Did you have to get one prior to your surgery? it was a requirement for me, and that is how I found out I had gastritis, duodenitis and a hiatal hernia. They did an ultrasound on my daughter, and she has gallstones so they are removing it soon. She had all the same symptoms you do, but as you said they already took out your gallbladder.

Hi Pammy, I am very sorry to hear of your bad fortune with the complications. I am just new to this site but my surgery was Jan 5 2011. I only had severe nausea with occassional vomiting for about 10 days. I have been good since.
Now back to you, I agree you need to insist on an EGD, also a pre-req for me, but if they thought you lost weight too fast, did you have large stones? and was your common bile duct dilated? If you answered yes to either of these, you need to insist on an ERCP also. It is not 100% comfortable as you have abdominal pain afterwards from the air to expand your stomach, but it will tellyou if you still have any stones "floating" around in there.
Going forward, make sure you can trust your physicians and you make notes before you go to your appointment. Then have someone go with you so if you become upset they can keep things going in the right direction.
I am a RN and while my sister didn't have the roux-n-y just myself-she did have a gangrene gallbladder and after a 3.5 hrs surgery that removed 2 finger like stones, that following week she had an ERCP where they found 2 more stones they missed when she had her gallbladder removed.
I hope things go well for you and you begin to feel better and get the diagnosis and treatment you need.
I hope some or any of this helps you. Take care. Dalyn

Spice12-Welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting the information for Pammy. Hopefully it will get the attention of her doctor's and she can finally get some relief. Whereabouts in MI are you? I live just west of Detroit. I was born and raised in Detroit and have lived within an 8 mile radius my entire life.

Pat99,
Thanks for the Welcome. I am truly excited to find another post that seems thus far to be really great. I am in South Lansing, while I grew up in the country closer to Flint, I have been here with my Husband since 1998. I have the best of both worlds, not in town but still right off I-96 for wasy access to everything. It just suprises me how some things and people are brushed off or the easiest thing to blame is the gastric surgery. I really hope she can get what she needs from the doctor she has and if not to seek another opinion.

How are you doing so far? I see you just had surgery a few months back. Despite mine being almost 17months ago, I remember it all so very clearly. My one and only regret, despite having bad nausea was I didn't do it 2 years sooner when I began to think of it. But now on with the good times.

Hi i am elaine i hope you go to the bariatric team who did your surgery or another if you prefer. Let them recommend other specialist if needed. I say this because if the dr. If the dr.s you see dont agree with what you did or are not trained this could cause so much confusion. Also have you considered seeing your therapist about this stage
