Waiting period???

Modena

I have had my labs done finished my doctors appointment with the Pysh, Specialist, and Doctor. So now I am waiting to get a date, but how long do I have to wait. I would have the surgery tomorrow if I could but I know I have to wait. Will I really have to wait five months to have the surgery? How long did everyone else have to wait?

Are you waiting for an approval from your insurance or do you already have approval and are waiting on a surgery date from your surgeon? Insuranse approvals can take up to 6 months if there is a requirement for a 6 month medically supervised diet. The wait for a surgery date is based on your surgeon's schedule. It could take 2 weeks or longer or if there is a cancellation you may only have to wait a week or even less if your pre-surgical liquid diet can be reduced with authorization by the surgeon.

Medicare gave me approval for surgery 24 hours after they received all of the required documents from the coordinator at the surgeon's office. I could have scheduled my surgery for 2 or 3 weeks after that but waited about 5 or 6 weeks because another family member was having knee replacement surgery and I didn't want the family to be running between us at the same time.

Hi Modena, after I had all that done and turned in to the doctors and insurance company all I had to do was schedule my appointment and I think it took 3 or 4 weeks it seemed like it all happened so quick after all the tests were done, I had Blu cross so there was no medically supervised diet. Let us know what you find out. Tom

I have received the authorization forms for the surgery and just have to wait for the a date. Someone else who took the classes with me already has a date scheduled I just get a little bit tired of waiting all the time. I just have to realize everything takes time. Thanks for the input and good going on your weight loss.

MODENA-WOW!!! That's only 2 weeks away. Congratulations :) :) :) I know you're excited and probably also feel a bit anxious. You'll be feeling a lot of different emotions but this is perfectly normal. Make sure you let us know how you are doing between now and the big day.
