Caffeine

is there anything that says I should not have caffeine now? I miss my coffee so much and I normally drink it black. I'm gonna ask my dr next week but was just wondering what u guys thought ?
My dietician said coffee or tea is fine as long as it’s not more than 8oz a day. I don’t know how much coffee you drank, but I don’t see a major problem. I’m cutting coffee, switching to herbal tea, only because I can’t drink black coffee. I can go without sugar, but I have to add milk. Not that there’s anything wrong with coffee with milk either, but my tea has been doing the trick and is super delicious.

I would just drink about that in the AM. It helps get me moving lol. Herbal tea sounds amazing though as well!.
I was wondering about tea--seems not many people talk about it on this site. I've seen so many teas that look really good, like mango and hibiscus kinds of teas. I figured I'd be okay with it, but it will never take the place of coffee. I've read that people add flavored protein drinks in their coffee vice dairy. (forgive me if I read that here and am repeating someone else. I'm on a FB page and get hints from there as well.)

My doc forbid coffee while I was on liquids, 3 weeks total. He said coffee is detrimental to healing and especially can cause irritation to sensitive stomach stitching.

Afterwards when I moved onto foods, coffee became okay again though he encourages moderation like everything else.

While going without coffee was rough for me, I do remember sleeping better. But I'm back to drinking 1-2x black coffee's per day. It's my early morning energy, my coffee helps power through 7-8 miles running and then I have another with protein powder as my after-run treat.

I am a Folgers Black Silk fan, my go-to.

I would just keep in mind the caffeine is a stimulant (duh, I know everyone knows that), but it also stimulates appetite and can lead you to dehydration faster, so make sure you do not count it as part of your daily fluid intake. Of course, it affects each person a bit differently. I'm drinking decaf right now and I'm enjoying it just fine and I haven't felt like I've needed the caffeine. I used to drink at least two cups of coffee, a cup of black tea, and probably two to four diet cokes each day, so I had quite a caffeine load. Since surgery....not a drop of caffeine. That being said, at some point, I MAY switch over to my favorite coffee again someday which does have caffeine, but right now I'm not at all planning on it.

I really don't think there is an issue drinking it, but I would recommend drinking additional fluid and not drinking much more than a cup a day. That's just my opinion, and I'm certainly not a professional. :)

I love Bigelows Constant Comment-it has Christmas spice vibes and Celestial Seaonings Bengal Spice - if you steep it too long it’ll taste like red hots LOL But there are a lot of non caffeinated herbal teas out there. Just depends on what you like!

I have a well loved and oft used expresso machine, so you can imagine my dismay when they said no coffee! I argued and argued to no avail. And I quit drinking coffee before my surgery and did not drink it until I was through all the food levels, including a full week of regular diet. Then I made myself a latte, with ultra-filtered, high protein milk and IT WAS WONDERFUL!! Now I have ONE every morning. Although, I just saw that premier has a limited edition PUMPKIN SPICE (yes, I'm THAT girl!!) protein shake, so I'm going to have to buy a few to make myself a pumpkin spice latte every morning.
