    Is anybody familiar with seitan?

Sometimes called "wheat meat," this is a high protein food sourced from wheat, rather than soy like tofu or tempeh. I was wondering if it might be a good protein alternative for those who continue to have difficulties with beef and/or other meats. I've been checking around but, so far, haven't...

    Liquids or clear liguids

Hi, Tim, Welcome and Congratulations on your upcoming wls! Usually, your surgeon/nutritionists will specify "clear liquids" if that's what they want you to have. Otherwise, protein shakes and the like are what are wanted. Best bet? Ask your medicos to be absolutely sure.

Why isnt there any one on here from Louisiana

Hi, Linda, My son went to Tijuana, Mexico in August 2012 for wls. He had a positive experience and is doing well. As Susie q pointed out, you want to research your surgeon carefully. There are good and not-so-good surgeons in Mexico, just as there are in the United States. I wish you...

    Liquid Diet

I'm not post-op but I do have a stomach! Generally speaking, I'd say any of the protein shakes which contain fiber (or to which you add fiber) are more filling and satisfying than those without fiber. One brand which contains some fiber is ChocoRite, offered by our Forum sponsor...

    New Here

For variety, your best bet is online. Amazon is where I usually look first and they often have the best price. You can always purchase elsewhere if you find a better price, but Amazon carries so many different items, it's always a good place to start. Other online retailers I can recommend, in...

    Surgery is November 1st............

Hi, Denise, Taking aspirin, even baby aspirin, is something I've always been told is an absolute no-no for wls patients. So, when you said you were taking aspirin, I was concerned and worried and afraid for you. Of course, you are doing the right thing by following your surgeon's instructions...

I'm new here and awaiting my date this week.

Welcome, Chathammom, From what you wrote, it seems to me you're making the best choice. The best choice for you. And right now, that's the only choice that counts. You need to be secure in your choice. Will you question your decision? Of course! It's only natural. Just be sure you understand...

    Transition to Pureed foods

Sounds like it's time to purchase a good blender. If money isn't a major factor, I can highly recommend a VitaMix or a Blendtec. Drop in any fruit(s) or vegetable(s), add some water and get a drink containing all the natural goodness of the whole fruit or vegetable, juice and fiber combined...

New. How do I get protein in?

Welcome, Gracie's Momma, And Congratulations on your wls! I don't know what "double milk" is. As for your protein, fkrebs mentioned Isopure and there are other brands of clear protein drinks. As to taste, mix them with as much water as necessary. If your drink has 25g of protein, cutting it...
