    New here today

Welcome to the forum. I read someplace that some doctors are recommending the bypass solely to help diabetics. Sure would like to understand why blood sugars stabilize so soon after surgery. I am not diabetic, but my blood sugars plummeted after surgery to a dangerously low level. Seems like the...

    Weight Loss Stopped So Soon

You might be eating too little. Try upping your caloric intake to 800-900. Your body can go into starvation mode at super low calories and it tries to hang on to the fat! It's a protective thing.

Water Intake after the "Sleeve" seems IMPOSSIBLE! :(

Hi and welcome to the forum. It would help if you would share when you had your surgery, what type of surgery, and at what stage you are in the diet plan.

How closely are you watching your food intake? I suggest recording every thing you put in your mouth for at least 2 weeks to see if there are some hidden calorie-busters in your daily meal plan. Also, remember about liquid calories. Sodas, sweet teas, alcohol, etc. can really up your caloric intake.

    Holy Sweet Tooth Batman!!

No, I've never heard of that. What happens when you eat something sweet. Does the craving go away, or do you get sick?

    New to the site......

So what came first, the pain or the depression? All the problems you mention have fixes. Some not so easy, but still... tackle one thing at a time. If you find the depression is the worst problem, go to a doctor for some help. It is out there. If you qualify for knee replacements, go for it...

    6 Days and a Wake

For me it was one month with no caffeine. Not too bad. The reason they gave me is that caffeine is dehydrating and you need all the hydration you can get after surgery.

    Can't please anyone......

It's very hard to process the opinions of others and sort them out. That's why I didn't tell too many people cause I figured they never walked in my shoes. This is a good support group, but you need to get information from LOTS of sources, including face-to-face support groups and reading. Read...

    Discharge from hospital question

I was told to wear loose fitting clothes to the hospital, but my tummy wasn't too distended.

    Question??????????

I weigh myself twice a month, the first and the fifteenth, on 2 different scales and record it. The first scale is at home, in the morning with no shoes. The second scale is at the gym fully clothed and at night. The gym scale runs about 2 pounds heavier, but then I have my shoes on and it's the...

    Waiting to Exhale

It's funny how people rag you and rag you about your weight, but when you decide to do something about it (WLS) they're all against it. I guess at one time I thought surgery was a drastic option. But now it just feels natural. I think someone should engineer a way to make our stomachs smaller...

I'm having a hard time transitioning to soft solids.

Sugar free jello and sugar free fat free puddings. You might want to buy some unflavored powdered protein and add a scoop to the batch, otherwise there's not much nutrition in them. Be sure that the jello is not 140 degrees or warmer when you add the protein powder, or it will clump.

I'm having a hard time transitioning to soft solids.

I think you are eating too much solid food one month out from surgery. A half cup of protein and 1/4 cup of veggies is 3/4 of a cup. I'm eating half of that 3-1/2 months out. I know they want you to get your protein in, but it's not always possible in the early months except by supplementing...

Getting closer to scheduling a surgery date

Sue, You know your own body and will know when it is time to increase your activity. I usually want to plow ahead and work, work, work, but another thing to consider is that post-op you're functioning on basically a starvation diet. For weeks and weeks and in my case, 6 months. While I feel...
