Where my Gastric Sleeve peeps at??? lol

Hi, you are doing great. My sleeve has been working, or should I say I have been working my sleeve. I have lost 100 pounds since my physical which is what prompted me to consider WLS. It only took 2 months from my seminar to my surgery. I lost 6 pounds before surgery, because I was just...

Has anyone had Duodenal Switch surgery?

I had the sleeve, but know someone who had the DS. It was the right choice for her. She was close to 600 pounds and had to lose 100 pounds before surgery, which she did. She had the surgery and her recovery time was longer, but she is doing great. I think she is down to 350 pounds and still...

    Its time I think.

My hair started thinning at about 5 months. I do take biotin, get my protein etc. I got a hair cut on Saturday and my hair dresser said I have no bald spots. She is sure it will get thicker. Any kind of process is stress on the hair, but if you are not having any problems go for it. I think...

    Help gained 15 pounds :(

In terms of concrete things you can do I agree with Javajoy. Back to basics. If you are 2 years post op, I am sure you already know these things. I think reaching out for supoort in doing them has already begun the recovery. If you were like me, hiding in the shame of my food addiction, kept...

    Is this normal?

As long as you are feeling well and are following your tx team's instructions it sounds like you are doing okay. If you are concerned, talk to your surgeon. I think what is normal for you might be different for others. It was not my experience. Good luck.

    Hair Loss

Some here include biotin, or a product called Hair, Skin and Nails. Make sure you are getting your protein. I would talk to your NUT about this. My experience has been that my surgeon is only interested in the surgery and direct complications. At my center the NUT handles all the possible...

    Eating combine meals

Thanks Javajoy that helps a lot. I have not been to Wendy's, but I think the serving size was okay. It was those few extra bites. I think this is why I stick with sinlge food items. No leftovers expect with veggies. Something I still need to work on.

    Question?

I had shorteness of breath and therefore needed cardiac clearance before my surgery. The tests I had was an echo cardiagram, EKG and a nuclear stress test. I was cleared. I think your surgeon wants to be sure you are okay for surgery, or what precations they might need to take. I agree with...

    Eating combine meals

I made turkey chili tonight for the first time. It was yummy and very healthy. I almost always eat single food items. For example: 3 oz. fish and 2-3 ounces of veggies. I still weigh my food. So tonight I was trying to figure out my protein and veggies, but since this is a combined meal I...

Some people I do believe are jealous.

I think you might want to tell your date before you meet as you look like a totally different person. Congratulations on your success. Regarding possible jealousy from others well that is their issue. You knows why. Could be of your courage to take control of your life. Maybe something they...

    Am I Plateauing???

I know it can be human nature, but try not to compare yourself to others. It is a set up to make you feel bad. I am 8 months post op and my body lets go of weight as it sees fit. As long as you are doing what is recommended you are doing great. We all have stalls. The reason I lost 7 pounds...

    I felt good.

At first I didn't see the weight loss. Now that I am 8 months post op I can. I think though it is more than just the weight loss, but about the life changes that come with it. I strggled a bit with this in the beginning. I didn't think I could do things yet. I am happy to say I took a leap...

Why can't I just do the diet?

I saw my surgeon 10 years before I had my surgery. I just was not ready at that time. Needless to say many attempts to lose and maintain a weight were not successful. I guess I was more afraid of what would happen to me if I didn't have surgery. After regaining 50 pounds in 2 years, I had...

Did anyone read Rex Reeds comments about Meliussa Mc Carthy?

It is still okay to shame obese people. Wake up world. It is not acceptable.

    Kiss goodbye plus sizes!

It is a good feeling to not have to shop in plus size dept. I have been to different stores and each one tries to put the fat dept in a different way, but we know. I kept wearing my 1x clothes and then my coworkers and daughter confronted me and said you need to go shopping. I finally did...

    One Year Anniversary 01/31

Hi Dana, Sometimes reaching milestones can bring up some fear for me. You already know what to do as you have been doing it for a year. I guess the honeymoon period is over and now is the time to use all the things you have learned over the last year. If you need to start at the beginning, do...

    Decisions, Decisions

I am 8 months post op VSG. Very happy I choose the sleeve. My only problem has been with constipation. I went to gasto doc and he said I developed IBS from the surgery. He precribed probiotics and murilax to get things moving. They have worked. I am going for colonoscopy on Thurs just to...
