OMG!
This is why it is so important to find a "center of excellence" surgeon and hospital. It sounds like you had many issues too.
I will tell you that I believe down deep I personally believe your bariatric surgery saved your life. But, along the way you should have had much better treatment...
Janet,
My turn to say welcome.
In the early go it can be difficult and it sounds like you are having more than your share of issues.
They will be all behind you soon.
I am happy that you did the right thing by going back to your surgeon so that he could help to make things better for you...
Yes, welcome.
We will be here to answer questions.
I know I haven't had the time of late to attend to this forum, but I have time again.
I had a couple of issues myself over the last several months but they are all behind me now.
I too had a heart caterization. However, we did this up front since it was known that I have some level of heart disease. Turns out I was OK for surgery and since the surgery my heart disease has been diminished.
So, it only makes sense to continue your journey and have your surgery.
Ralph
Welcome. I wish I could help with your questions. After surgery, many medicines are no longer needed. However, I cannot say this will be so for you.
Generally, high blood pressure meds, diabetic meds, water pills, etc are either reduced or completely eliminated in the short time after surgery...
Our groups allow both pre-op and post-op folks into the support group.
By allowing the pre-op into the group the post-op folks are able to answer many questions that the pre-op folks have based on their real experience.
I am surprised that your groups do not do this. It is very beneficial for...
Congratulations.
Just keep following the program.
Stay on course.
The body decides when it wants to lose more weight.
I have even seen my weight go up during my weight loss cycle.

Seriously, weight will come off all over.
I am at goal now and I have a huge amount of excess skin around my belly, which is where most of my weight is.

You don't drink out of a straw since it will introduce too much air into your little stomach and that can be painful.
I am still burping 1 1/2 years after surgery if I eat too fast. I still burp when I eat salads, but at least now I can eat salads, FINALLY!
I use protein shakes when I see my...
Also, post surgery you are pumped up with liquids to prevent dehydration. This will produce a significant weight gain as you leave the hospital. Then you start to drop weight.
The important thing right now is stay hydrated and get your protein in the best you can.
As time goes by and you...
Your surgeon's office should be helping you with this.
Trying to remember BMI of 41. If you are overweight by 100 pounds you should be approved. If you are close and also have a medical condition such as diabetes or heart disease you will be approved.
I would hope you have found a surgeon...

Oh one more thing.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to brag about my accomplishments again. This helps me tremendously. It serves as a reminder to me that I never want to go backwards and gain the weight back.
I had my surgery on 11/4/2013. I reached goal of 199 by 7/2014. I am coming...
Hi,
It is so important to be positive with this.
Cheyenne is so right.
For me I have a process that I absolutely follow. I reached my goal. I see you still have a way to go to reach your goal so you may have to adjust a bit.
You must keep track of what you are consuming. You must make sure...
I still get plenty of burps.
Be especially careful not to eat too fast; this creates severe "heartburn".
What is happening to me all the time is certain foods (veggies) create a lot of gas.
It is part of post op. We learn to deal with it.
I found out that there are certain foods that I...

Hi,
It is so important to find a protein drink that you can tolerate and preferably like.
This is essential to assure that you get your 60mg of protein each day and not have to face the problems that could exist by being malnurished including severe loss of muscle.

I always ask is this truly heartburn or is it something else.
Most importantly, this MUST be discussed with your surgeon.
He/She and their staff should be able to work with you on this.
