Bariatric Portion Control Plates?

I bought the ikea kids plates and bowls. I am good about measuring out my stuff and then transfer it there. I tend to take to big of bites so I found these really cute forks and spoons at home goods that I'm using and they are working well. I do meal prep and because I live alone I freeze a lot and take out on Sunday for the week.
I also just bought some tiny forks and spoons. I'm a big biter too.

yeah i've heard measuring is a must - especially considering I have no idea what a proper portion is at alllllllllll haha.
I follow a woman on pintrest who is a bariatric dietician and she showed in a short video that protein is from your finger to your thumb(about the size of a deck of cards), the length of fingers is vegetables, minus one knuckle is carbs. I bought toddler silverware and plates to use for measuring my food and to learn to take smaller bites

Oh that's great advice!!!! Thanks !

Hi I'm Cindy I need help knowing how to portion/ pre prep
Hello Cindy,
Bariatric portions tend to be smaller than a "normal portion" for a lot of foods, you should refer to any handout or guidance you received from your team to make sure you are eating their specified serving suggestions.
Once you know that, get yourself a food scale and a set of measuring cups/spoons and weigh/measure accordingly!

As far a prepping, before surgery you can just make large batches of foods and break them down into smaller containers and refrigerate or freeze until you are ready to eat.
After surgery, you might want to make much smaller amounts until you get back into your new normal. You will find that you can eat one thing fine and the next day it bothers you.
For example, I can't eat cold Chicken now. I never had a problem with it before surgery though.

Good luck!

I found a set of pillow fort kids divided plates and trays on Target online. They’re $3ish for a pack of five (I think it’s five). They’re a 7” diameter plate divided in three sections. Based on the photo there are six of them in the pack.
I got mine portion plates in Walmart and I only got three. But they worked. I hate doing dishes so I have switched to paper plates. I get 8” paper plates and 16 oz bowls for husband and small 8 oz bowls and 5” paper snack plates for me. It works. Then if they are fairly clean I put them in recycle. I do weigh most of my foods.
