For some reason, I can't post a screenshot of our homepage, but the info is there.Curious, does anyone know who owns this platform? Is it pharma? Insurance company? Patient advocacy group? We all share our experiences here freely. Who is using our opinions and information, I wonder. there does not seem to be any info on this site about it. At least it is not obvious.
it's an acronym for Roux en Y Gastric Bypass, one of the most common forms of bariatric surgery. What's rygb

I am also a Addictions counselor by trade.Hi my name is VidaSue; I have had bariatric surgery back in March of 2021 and this is going on two years post-surgery. I'm starting to put back on the pounds. I think that I am becoming addicated to food? How do I stop my self from eating to much. I don't know when to stop eating food.
I was wondering what I'm doing wrong. I would like some help please. I sometimes get very sick when drink protein shakes.
Vuksmom knows. It's an addiction. If it wasn't an addiction, you wouldn't have let it control your every thought about food and your body.I'm only 6 mos post, but have been in therapy a year pre surg. She specializes in Food Addiction. I am also a Addictions counselor by trade.
Just like other Addictions, I believe it will never go away, but you learn tools to manage things. Know I support you even tho I'm new to everything.
For myself, it's what's eating me, and I figure out the source with support.

Hi-I am new today. I am 76 and had my surgery at age 72. For 10 days all was well, but then I developed both an abcess and blot clot. I was one sick old lady. I was in and out of 1 hospital after another for 30 days hospitalization. Then I spent another 30 days in a cramped up room in a Rehab Hospital. This all happened when Covid was beginning to flare. When I came home I was extremely weak for months. I had undergone 5-6 surgeries while hospitalized for one drain, then its removal due to terrible rash, replacement drain and stent placed in my esophagus. A month or more later after 2 long rounds of different, strong antibiotics, the docs thought it time to remove drain and stent. That was done. This entire time I could not eat but was fed thru an IV. Each meal time I did get down a spoon or 2 of oatmeal. After final removals, I gradually started with eating by mouth. Nothing tasted good--probably from the length of time I was on antibiotics. It took me months to regain any strength. I had home PT and OT. I had to pay helpers to do household things I could no longer do. It was a nightmare. All the anesthesia really messed with my brain. I had been quite intelligent all my life and was a highly achieved academic. My brain was like mush. After being at home a couple of months, a hernia developed. Soon I went under the knife again to repair that.Welcome, Gypsea, Amilyn. Wow, I'm 71 and had surgery in my mid-50s. Best of luck to you, having the procedure in your 70s. It's doable, though. Laparoscopy makes the procedure so much easier, though. I had a full open procedure, major surgery, requiring a long recovery. Now, it's more like a big visit to the dentist for something like a root canal, comparatively. If I were going to have it at my age, I'd still get RYGB rather than VSG. I'm extremely happy with my choice and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I think there's still an occurrence of esophageal trouble with VSG, but since RYGB involves only the stomach organ, no problem.
Hi I deal with the same thing on a daily basis. Its such a struggle...Vuksmom knows. It's an addiction. If it wasn't an addiction, you wouldn't have let it control your every thought about food and your body.
