Hi! Just to ease your mind.....I had laprascopic gastric bypass 3 weeks ago (on feb. 1st). I was up and walking around in hospital 2 hours post op! I was active before the surgery, though over weight and had a lot of health issues (diabetes diagnosis this past august). The pain was tolerable and I was able to shower myself the next morning and was walking over a mile a day before leaving hospital on Sunday morning. I would have left fri. as I was doing well, though I had an unexplained fever of 103. They did a lot of tests which were all normal. On sat. night, they took me off of the iv fluids and within 3 hours, fever was gone....some just react to meds with a fever I guess
I also prepared before going in and it was sooooooo much easier then what I could imagine some people go through. I bought all sorts of liquids and sorted my vitamins and meds into those pills organizers ahead of time. I also stocked up on protein supplements/shakes. I had also bought a lot of foods from pureed list, as I was not cleared to drive for 3 weeks (standard for my dr.) and pureed foods began after 2nd week. You will be good......just remember that it will be worth it and you have a lot of support from others....whether its family and friends or even online communities! Good luck
