October 30 day (+1) Challenge

Day 11

Tracking -
yes
Water - yes
Gratitude - As it was ME Monday, I was grateful for my commitment to my health. For too many years, I allowed myself to be so unhealthy, using every excuse. I no longer do that. I accept that every pound, up or down, is due to my food choices and my wellness behaviors. Sometimes it is a real struggle, but I'm human.
Movement - yes.

October Day 11

Calories
: 595
Protein: 80 g
Water: 90 oz
Exercise: Two Okie walks, for a total of 2.3 miles!
Gratitude: Today I'm grateful for Okie walks, which provide not only exercise and fresh air, but also are a great source of much needed socialization for me. Today while playing ball with Okie we met a group of three strangers who stopped to watch Okie play, and of course asked about his breed and commented on how adorable he is! They were shocked to learn he was not a puppy! Okie is truly a therapy dog for me! Here is a picture taken a few minutes ago! He just jumped up into my lap a few hour ago while we were watching TV, and just got comfy. He always makes me smile.
The love of a dog is priceless!!! :)

I love these pics of your baby boy puppy (grownup) dog. He loves his mommy! And you look so great. Wow! Good for you and all of your hard work on the inside & outside. Awesome! ❤❤

Day 11

Water 75
Protein 62
Exercise Yes
Plank Yes
Gratitude I am grateful for my audio books. I was able to get out for an extra walk today because my book it so good. My audio book just makes me happy.
I am glad you enjoy your audio books & the incentive to walk it provides.

May I please share my audio book story? When I was driving between my previous home in Lancaster Pa down to WV for a family visit years ago (a 500 mile trip in 1 day), a co-worker suggested taking along a John Grisham audio book for company. I started listening as it was getting dark, and next thing I knew, I started falling asleep. Listening to the book while driving was like having a bedtime story read to me! zzzzzzzzz OMG! So scary. Needless to say, I never tried that again.

Day 11

Water: 80 oz
Food: 40g protein
Movement: 35 min walk in the park
Gratitude: I'm grateful for my health, and my ability to take a 35 min. walk with only 1 sit down time on a park bench during the walk. I couldn't imagine doing that before my surgery, and now it's as easy as a walk in the park! LOL

Oh no that is not good. That is why you walk not drive with the audio book. I will give you a funny back with I was hiking this last weekend I did some with my book. Well I did not hear 6 people on horseback come up behind me. Well I did feel very dumb after that so I put the head phones away after that.

Day 11

Tracking -
yes, even though it wasn't an ideal day, I stuck with the tracking. Which is key for me. If I give up when my eating goes sideways, it gets worse. If I keep tracking, it gets better. Like a STOP sign, but I have to be looking!
Water - yes
Gratitude - I am very grateful for the food tracking apps out there. Do you guys remember those books that all the women carried in their purse with nutritional values in the 70's & early 80's? The reddish brown one? How anyone ever lost a pound is beyond me. I would never have the staying power to eat, get out my giant book, find my foods, get out my notebook, and write it all down. No wonder Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem became so popular. It was here: just eat this. No tracking required.
Movement - probably not the full 15 minutes. But some.

October Day 12

Calories
: 572
Protein: 78 g
Water: 68oz
Exercise: Two trips to the grocery store, no Okie walks today, because poor Okie had to go to doggie daycare and grooming.
Gratitude: Today I'm grateful for the ability to provide comfort to my best little buddy. Much like I do, he suffers from anxiety. He hates going anywhere without us and is banned from many groomer in our area, not because he is vicious, but because he is terrified and terrified dogs are unpredictable. There is a daycare/boarding place near our home that we started taking Okie to a few months before my surgery, just to get him used to being there. After the first few trips, he did really well. They also do grooming, so when it came time for grooming, I brought his sedatives, and everything went fine. The next step was to board him on the night of my surgery. At the very last minute my husband came up with an alternative plan. This has had happened every time I have tried to board Okie overnight, or even take him back to daycare. So yesterday Okie hadn't been to daycare in months. He was nervous. When it came time for his grooming, he was terrified. He blew through his sedatives, and they ended up having to muzzle him. He was obviously still shaken when I picked him up. Now he has a bad association with this place, that will take a long time to fix. Okie spent the rest of the evening in my lap, getting mama love. I'm going to have to start taking him there on a weekly basis so that he can remember how much fun he has with the other dogs. It will be at least 6 weeks before he needs to be groomed again. Most of all, I need him to be comfortable there in case we ever need to board him overnight! My husband and I strongly disagree on this, but I've put my foot down!

Day 12

Tracking -
no
Water - yes
Gratitude - I am grateful for the rain. My mom and I sat outside yesterday, under the gazebo while it poured. Is there any sound more peaceful than rain? There was a light breeze, which caused a light mist. It was like being covered in dew. The moment made all the more perfect by the fact that it was fleeting. And then it rained all night and I slept like a baby.
Movement - yes

Wednesday, Day 13

Tracking -
No, had a fabulous lunch with my high school besties!

Gratitude - After loosing touch with my two high school besties for 40+ years, we reconnected two years ago and picked up right where we left off. One lives in Florida, so it's no wonder I couldn't find out where she was, but the other was so close to me it is amazing we never ran into each other. She had remarried so that is why I couldn't find her and neither ladies do Facebook, which makes it all the harder. Next year will be our 50th class reunion and we are looking forward to it!

Day 13

Water:
64 oz.
Exercise: 10 min dancercize, tackled the stairwell in our building. Made it down & back up 1 flight. I'm gonna try to increase the # of times gradually.
Food: 50 g protein
Gratitude: I'm so glad for our feline fur baby Cam. He's 15 years old, and he has the sweetest personality. He gives equal time to my husband and I, and he still chases after his toy mice if we hide them under a plastic grocery bag for him to discover. He's our little love kitty.
