Savory satisfying snack ideas

Hey everybody.

I was wondering if y'all have ideas for savory, safe, & satisfying snack ideas that are either ready made from the store or easy to prepare at home. I'm not much of a sweets person.

I found Protein Trail Mix at Wal-Mart; I think it's their brand. It has roasted, salted soynuts, pepitas, chickpeas, golden raisins, sunflower kernels, and almonds. A 1/4 cup serving has 8 g protein, 80 mg sodium, 10 g fat, & 11 g carbs. I really love these.

I also eat unsalted roasted sunflower kernels and raw pepitas, both Kroger's brand.

One of my fave go to snacks is Sabra Hummus - thanks for the hummus suggestion Ryan! I haven't tested baby carrots yet but that will happen next month sometime.

So, does anyone else have healthful savory snack ideas that don't involve any or very little prep? Thanks in advance.

Spread a slice of deli turkey with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and roll it up.
Yum! Great idea, thanks. I totally forgot I bought a couple mesh bags of Baby Bel cheese from Sam's club. 1-2 of those make a satisfying snack, and slicing one up & rolling it up with a deli turkey slice would be a wonderful snack. Thanks. I will get some Laughing Cow next time I go grocery shopping. Adding it to my list right now!

Dry roasted edamame has 14g of protein in 1/3 cup. It's a nice crunchy/lightly salty snack that packs a nice bit of protein. It is also a good source of iron.

You already mentioned one of my go-tos in hummus. I used to buy Sabra all the time, but now I make my own, it's cheaper and doesn't have as many extra ingredients or additional oils.

I have been making my own hummus also. I have been making my own tahini and re hydrating my chickpeas also. MMMM now I want to make some this weekend

I have some cans of chickpeas. Could I drain them & bake on a cookie sheet? Should I toss them in something 1st, or spray with Pam & season, maybe garlic/onion powder, paprika, season salt? Wonder what temp & for how long?

Making my own hummus might work if I can get the ingredients for tahini. We used to have a local Lebanese-owned grocery store that closed at the beginning of the pandemic, so IDK. I used to get fresh babaghanoush (sp?) there that tasted like heaven spread on pita. Sigh

Do you make your own dry roasted edamame beans or can you find it as a snack where you live? Sounds like my kinda snack.

My new thing this week is this...

In addition to this I keep P3 packs and jerky in my filing cabinet at work. Also a few packets of sugar free apple cinnamon oatmeal when I need more then a snack

I love trail mix! I also love deli meat wrapped around cheese. Or I'll take a bit of chicken salad and eat it on a half serving of whole wheat crackers. Black beans, salsa, a little cumin or siracha on a half of a low carb tortilla.
Missy, all of these sound so good. What is in the trail mix? Do you buy it somewhere or put it together yourself? Thanks for the suggestions.

I just saw this Dip while surfing around when I was supposed to be working.
Not low cal but different and easy.
3 ingredients:
Tuna
Diced pickles your favorite pickles
Chick-fil-a saice!!
Might be fun to serve your families on game day.
Who would think Chick-fil-a sauce?

Hey Sharon thanks for this idea. I don't patronize Chick-fil-a, so I'm not familiar with their sauce. Is it a honey mustard type, or something else entirely? I'll bet it's delicious though. Thanks.

I'm always game for doctoring up tuna. One of the best tuna salad sandwiches I ever tasted came from Jimmy John's. It was served with alfalfa sprouts, thinly sliced cukes, and Grey Poupon mustard. It's been 10 years since I had that, and I still remember how good it was. I could probably replicate that using lowfat mayo, onions, celery, and a little bit of sweet pickle relish. Cukes and Grey Poupon would be so good with. Now I'm making myself hungry. Thanks again for the idea.

Hi Karen,
This particular sauce is sort of a thousand island color, I tried it one time and didn't like it for dipping my nuggets. I don't particularly like plain mayo but I do like doctored up mayo-ish stuff. I do think the thousand island stuff might be good with tuna, but i TRY NOT to make dip things and snack on them, it will do me in. The Grey Poupon would be different in tuna, it sounds good! They sell the Chick-fil-a sauces at the grocery store now in bottles so they have expanded their market.
I am totally craving tuna salad now too. We have those nasty refrigerated things here at work, but I hate cold bread, not worth eating it.
We have a Potbelly across the street, it might be calling me for lunch of course I can only eat 1/4 of a sammie and I feel guilty buying the whole thing so maybe I need to get a grip, it is only 0719 and I am getting interested in lunch/food. Arrrrgh.

Thank you Sharon for replying to my ?? about Chick-fil-a sauce. I never have been able to handle 1000 island dressing. Idk if it's the color or the taste or both.

I rarely can handle mayo on a sandwich, but a small amt mixed with a little sweet relish & onion and tuna is ok. Same with egg salad ( plus yellow mustard) or salmon salad. Adding that Grey Poupon to the tuna is a combo that really worked in the past.

I am definitely ready to make up a small batch of tuna salad after thinking about it over the past few days. Yum! :p

Thanks again y'all for your suggestions. I found dry roasted soybeans, edamame regular & some with wasabi flavor (woohoo!), and a few other dry roasted yummies - chickpeas, kale chips. That & some roasted garlic hummus I picked up should take me up through Thanksgiving.
