    First Timer From NC

Welcome! Glad you have an idea of what the liquid diet entails. That's been the hardest part for me so far. Tomorrow is 14 days post op and I still have 1 week of puréed foods left to go. Every doctor gives different instructions, though. Good luck with your surgery next week!

    Sleeping on your back

Eleven days post op. Fell asleep on my back, but woke up on my stomach. So I'm feeling swollen and achy. Are we allowed to sleep on our stomach? Got scared when I awoke this morning...

Question for those who have had gastric bypass

I had my surgery on the 22nd, no complications thankfully. Stayed 1 night at the hospital. I don't think I would have been ready to go to a wedding that soon, though. I didn't 'eat' till about 5 days after surgery, so I was really low on energy. If it were me, I would reschedule for after...

    Scared

I did. I went through all the insurance requirements twice. After the first time, about two years ago, I joined a hospital, doctor supervised weight loss program. I lost a lot of weight, got nutrition classes along the way. But I gained it all back. Super miserable... wasted time... I...

    Suga!

Are you still taking your medicine for diabetes? I read somewhere that you have to talk to you regular doctor regarding being on your pre - op diet so your meds are adjusted appropriately. My mom is diabetic...49 Is dangerously low!

What happened to the sense of...

...of the urgency to urinate? Lol. Silly question. And I totally didn't write it down so I forgot to ask my doctor. Does anyone else feel the same way? It's like I have to remind myself now to go to the restroom after a few hours. Am I alone in this?

    Decaf coffee?

Has anyone had coffee? I believe I read somewhere regular coffee is a no-no. But does anyone drink decaf? While I was doing the pre-op diet, I learned to drink decaf with the Atkins vanilla shake as my creamer. It's a wonderful combination in my opinion! Anyhow, just wondering...

    Cooking for others

So it's been a full week since my surgery last Wednesday. I'm feeling a lot better. Trying to keep busy as TV and reading have bored me now. So I started baking food for my family. Yesterday I baked some chicken, potatoes, and veggies. Today I baked some pork and veggies. Tomorrow is chicken...

Good luck on your upcoming surgery! Nerves, excitement, anxiety...all pretty normal emotions! I had mine last Wednesday, so it's been a full week. I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought. The healing happened really fast.
