Looking for a mentor/support before surgery.

Well today husband was supposed to get heart valve surgery with three artery bypass. They told him at 8 am that his surgery is postponed til Monday. A heart became available for a heart transplant patient. Husband had no issues with postponement of surgery but the staff was sad for him. I met the dr Thursday night while visiting husband. Came home to work on stuff for the weekend. Will head back Sunday night to stay at friends.

While I am sure there's some disappointment about the postponement, at least it was for a good reason. I hope everything goes well on Monday and that he has a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Today I worked steady all day. First I was moving our chairs in living room. Decided to buy husband a recliner. That way he doesn’t have to climb in and out of waterbed frame with air mattress in it. That was a job getting his chair out. I confused the dogs cause I temporarily moved their food and water bowls. They did find them but they didn’t seem impressed. Went to store and got husbands new chair there was some assembly but I had a helper. After he left I had three more helpers to move pool ladder filter and battery operated yard tools into new shed. Cleared up a good amount of space getting that all in the shed. I am talking the yard tools pool stuff was by the pool. Came in and rested for a few then I started box cutting the box from the recliner and filled up the recycle bin. I killed my 2.5 gal shop vac last week so I got a new one. Got it out of the box and chopped that box up too. Feeling very tired and hurting more than I want to. Took some pain meds but kept on going. Next was fill my drink bottles for the next couple of days. But had to empty the sink from filling it in the last 24 hours. Got that done. I didn’t mention but when I bought the recliner they gave a 5x7 foot area rug to go with the chair. Going to put in my room to cover the traffic worn area of the carpet before my surgery. Took second dose of meds for pain after two hours. I might get some sleep tonight. In the morning it is clean my rug in my bedroom and shift stuff to get 5x7 carpet down. Called husband several times to update him through the day. And he was very happy when I finally said I am not doing anymore today. Sent texts to helpers to say think you again for all the help. I am so glad I had the help. Blessing to all and be fun.

Husband had surgery yesterday. Stayed with him til end of visiting hours. They took out the vent right before I left. He looked so worn out. Visiting now and he is sitting in recliner talking well. Will stay and visit one more night and head home for my dr appointment friday

I want to say your support means a lot to me. I feel blessed with all of you in my heart. I am kinda getting run down with all the trips back and forth. I am staying on track with logging food intake for sure but noticing I am not getting all my drink logged. I am drinking my water intake , which is good. Tomorrow when I go home I will be staying home until Tuesday of next week. My best friend will be visiting husband when I won’t be here and keep me updated. The other thing is she will be taking him his phone if he doesn’t keep it when I take it with me tomorrow. He is afraid it will get stolen. So hopefully I will be able to call him during my time away. I have pre surgery blood draws and other possible presurgery tests on Friday. I meet with the orthopedic surgeon on Monday to get more details of the surgery and aftercare. Husband release date is still unknown. May be before my surgery may be after. My hip replacement surgery is 25 oct. time to get some shut eye long day tomorrow.

Roni, it's good to hear that your husband is doing well. Please take care of yourself. It sounds like you are doing A LOT! And with your own hip surgery coming up, it's important you keep yourself in tip top shape. It is good that your BFF is going to visit your husband for a bit so you can stay home and make your appointments. Take care and keep us updated.

Well husband has been told several times he should get to go home and each time something comes up. He is getting frustrated and my surgery is looming. He told the doctor that he wanted to be home before my surgery.

I got presurgery X-ray ekg and blood work drawn on the 15. Monday I met with the C-Pap staff and we had quite the appointment. My machine is one of the ones on recall. I was also shown how I was putting my mask headgear together wrong. I was getting the top strap across the forehead and it was supposed to be over the top of my head, like a headband. Oops. Then I met with my surgeon, she is young between 25 to early 30’s. She said there would be two attending with her in surgery. We talked about things I like to do motorcycle rides, yard work, my pool…..and talked about the hardware they are going to use. I asked her why be a surgeon she said it is like carpentry and building the body. I thought that was a different way to approach it. Friday the 22nd was my covid test. Stocked up on my meds and supplements. now I self quarantine. Shower Sunday night with special cleaning clothes. Sunday no food or drink except with approved meds after midnight. I can have 8 oz of water on the 2.5 hour road trip to get there. Up at 6 to leave by 7 on Monday, I check in at 930 and I am second on the list for the day. Neighbor is taking me to hospital. I offered to get a room for her since they are keeping me overnight. She declined. I will be paying for her gas. On both trips there and back. That is the least I could do for her. Stuff for hospital walker, cane C-Pap, loose clothes(have those in abundance) I can do this.

On the home front things are looking better. My room is more organized and I will be able to move around. Got the hallway cleared of stuff. Getting closer on kitchen being more organized. Finished mowing this past Tuesday. Well looks like it is time to get started with my day. Be fun stay safe.
