Happy Birthday
Thank you, you caught that.Happy birthday!!
Thank you.
Thank youHappy Birthday
I feel bad for her to be in so much pain. Having had both my knees replaced over 15 years ago, I know what that feels like. Good luck at the appointment.Well, no medical advice here but I would like to share my mom's experience with putting off recommended joint replacement. It is merely this; last year she could walk, with pain yes, but walk. This year, it is all she can do to get out of her chair and step into her rollator to roll herself to the restroom. And she literally sobs in pain doing just that much. Joints do not get better, they only get worse. And now, because of muscle atrophy from being unable to walk, edema and her size, they are refusing to do surgery, as they don't believe she will be able to complete the physical therapy required to walk with replacement knees. (3 different ortho surgeons)
We have a consultation with my weight loss team on Monday. But we're going to have to wait at least 3 months for that, assuming they are willing to take her on. We are seeing the lymphoedema clinic twice a week to try to get the swelling down to an acceptable level. Which is crazy difficult, as again, she cannot walk and I do not have a wheelchair accessible vehicle. So she has to take tiny, pain filled steps to get into the car .. and out of the car. Literally all of this is due to putting off the surgery they recommended she have, and she refused, a year ago. Just food for thought.
Thank youHappy belated birthday! Sorry I missed it!
Previously I did weigh too much for the replacement. When they saw me in June they were ready to jump on it. That is when I wanted to wait til WLS surgiversary. This last two months with three falls and more pain is not helping. The last two falls were only three weeks apart. I am Leary of the local hospital which is why I am turning to the VA. My consult is aug 18. I would feel better going to the orthopedic center that did the initial work when I broke my hip in 2005 for continuity of care… even though the bariatric team wants me to wait for WLS surgiversary I don’t think I can wait that long. Not with the amt of pain I am having. I do not like pain meds I have taken more in the last month than in the last 5 years. I pass kidney stones with no meds I do have a strong pain tolerance. My friends and family know if I say I hurt, I hurt. I have done the research on hip replacement so I do have some ideas of questions to ask. The VA does have. PT dept at the clinic. I checked out the docs too. I am ready for the consult. Thank you for sharing the struggles your mom is having. I wish her health and peace from pain. It really is no fun.Well, no medical advice here but I would like to share my mom's experience with putting off recommended joint replacement.
