Tonight husband and I went to ihop for dinner I got kids silver dollar with 1 scrambled egg and 1 bacon and 5 silver dollar pancakes got a to go box for pancakes, eggs were cold put them in to go box also and only ate the bacon after patting off some grease. Husband got French toast and bacon. His was barely warm but the syrup made up for it. We normally are very easy going. They comped my meal we did good. Then he took me to the movies, think it has been at least 2 years since we went I think the last one was marvel endgame part 1. Tonight we saw Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson. It had a good story great stunts in it and corny but funny jokes. Had a great time yes I wore my mask.

Well, no medical advice here  but I would like to share my mom's experience with putting off recommended joint replacement. It is merely this; last year she could walk, with pain yes, but walk. This year, it is all she can do to get out of her chair and step into her rollator to roll herself to the restroom. And she literally sobs in pain doing just that much. Joints do not get better, they only get worse. And now, because of muscle atrophy from being unable to walk, edema and her size, they are refusing to do surgery, as they don't believe she will be able to complete the physical therapy required to walk with replacement knees. (3 different ortho surgeons)
We have a consultation with my weight loss team on Monday. But we're going to have to wait at least 3 months for that, assuming they are willing to take her on. We are seeing the lymphoedema clinic twice a week to try to get the swelling down to an acceptable level. Which is crazy difficult, as again, she cannot walk and I do not have a wheelchair accessible vehicle. So she has to take tiny, pain filled steps to get into the car .. and out of the car. Literally all of this is due to putting off the surgery they recommended she have, and she refused, a year ago. Just food for thought.

I feel bad for her to be in so much pain. Having had both my knees replaced over 15 years ago, I know what that feels like. Good luck at the appointment.

Previously I did weigh too much for the replacement. When they saw me in June they were ready to jump on it. That is when I wanted to wait til WLS surgiversary. This last two months with three falls and more pain is not helping. The last two falls were only three weeks apart. I am Leary of the local hospital which is why I am turning to the VA. My consult is aug 18. I would feel better going to the orthopedic center that did the initial work when I broke my hip in 2005 for continuity of care… even though the bariatric team wants me to wait for WLS surgiversary I don’t think I can wait that long. Not with the amt of pain I am having. I do not like pain meds I have taken more in the last month than in the last 5 years. I pass kidney stones with no meds I do have a strong pain tolerance. My friends and family know if I say I hurt, I hurt. I have done the research on hip replacement so I do have some ideas of questions to ask. The VA does have. PT dept at the clinic. I checked out the docs too. I am ready for the consult. Thank you for sharing the struggles your mom is having. I wish her health and peace from pain. It really is no fun.

It has been a while since I posted. Life has good days and bad days. Haven’t gotten much swimming in lately but I have managed to work on yard. Instead of finishing in one day sometimes it takes a couple. Especially when I have to recharge all four batteries and wait for them to cool down before recharging. Thinks I need 3 more sets of batteries to do the mowing and the blower/vac on same day. Not including the 4 batteries for weed eating and curb maintenance.

The dogs give such love. Other projects include finishing the pool shed and organizing pool and outdoor tools and other things. Emptying the 8x10 ft metal shed to place a 10x20 ft shed in its place. Paid to get 8x10 ft shed tore down.

The electrician for the solar panels had a hissy fit re basement so that is delayed. Had to clean basement. Done. Should have seen me moving soft sided hot tub up the stairs and out of the house, by myself but you would have been rolling in laughter. In addition to Rescuing clothes from 2016 in the basement size 20. I am treating them for mold I have lost one pair of pants and one shirt completely but gained 4 pair of pants two coulottes and at least a dozen tops. And I think 2-3 pair of shorts. They fit mostly. Now I do have to repair some stuff. Hems, patch ( iron on) then tack patch in place. Repair seams in a couple of shirts. I can do that. Still trying to gather big clothes and get rid of them. Just have to do the work. Think I am going to put on market place. Poshmark wants name brand stuff and I am cheap department store buyer. But I have a plan gonna use husbands Facebook account to list.

The orthopedic appointment went well especially after I got the X-ray and ct scan in their files from the local doctors. The local dr would be scheduling hip replacement surgery right away but…The VA moves at their own pace and they need the approval to go ahead from bariatric dr. The bariatric team got the X-ray and ct scans that same day also. when the PA saw what the reports said she agreed in office that I do need this surgery soon. So now it is hurry up and wait. VA government go at their own speed. Plus it has to wait til after sept 23 for the three month date from when last injection was done. The VA also did ct scan for my spot on my lung they have been watching for last six years and a second ct scan for kidney stones since on was moving around that time. They also got the history of the ureter problems from botched hysterectomy in 1995. They shut off right kidney for two years. That was an adventure. Two years of surgery and stones and renal scans and another two years before kidneys were working properly. It is a waiting process.

Bariatric wise I had weigh in today. I am 4 pounds down from last month and that includes a two week stall at 220 pounds to 221 pounds. They also want me at 100 gr protein per day since that reading is still low. Everything else is in range. I am not complaining. So today I weighed in at 217.5 pounds. I am happy. That is my journey update for now at 7 months out.

Oh yeah still waiting for 10x20 shed to be delivered the axles on trailer broke and needed fixing. Then I will have reclining bike in garage for exercise. So much to share but I do read and comment as I can. Be fun stay safe.

I have sad news and good news. The weather is changing and there is only about 1 week left for the pool. Then I will dropping the water, putting the winter chemicals in. And putting the winter cover on. And keep up the outside until surgery.

The good news is I have a date for my left hip replacement surgery. October 25. They will keep me overnight and send me home the next day. It is going to be work in physical therapy but it should be worth it afterwards.

Yesterday I bought a sewing machine to replace the one I can’t find. It is small and portable with 12 built in stitches. I decided to challenge myself by using some stretchy material. I have only worked in cotton before. I found a pattern for face masks, so I will use the stretchy material to make husband and myself some double sided face masks. Think small and build up from there.

That is my news for today
