    Gaining weight before surgery

I went with the Roux-en-Y bypass since you can't cheat. The Sleeve doesn't restrict the types of foods you can eat, so you can still eat all the sugary & deep fried foods that caused the weight gain. Also, the Sleeve can be stretched back out too easily compared to the Roux-en-Y's pouch. Alot...

    4 weeks post op

I tried Isopure and New Whey, but they have an after taste that made me sick. I am focusing more on getting my protein in my food, but I found the Smoothie King Gladiator has 45 grams of protein even in the small (20oz) and they have medium (32oz) on sale every Friday for $5, which rocks. I am...

    4 weeks post op

I joke and say that 5 out of 6 people have no problems with this surgery. So I must be #6, on 11/14/13 I was readmitted to the hospital beyond severly dehydrated and all my levels were so low one more day was most likely all I had left. I wasn't able to tolerate protein ingested because it hurt...

    Getting Frusterated

Also remember, don't go and buy new clothes until you hit your goal weight. Every town has resale shops where you can go and get smaller sizes and some will take your old clothes and give you a discount at the register.

    4 weeks post op

I am at just over 4 weeks post op (bypass) and had to have my first stricture opened. I am not tolerating foods or protein drinks very well, even drinking water is a chore. Is there anyone who has had a stricture and what you ate after is was dilated back open? I can't figure out how to get...

Thank you, this has made the path easier to find. I am just glad I am not losing my mind. Tuesday is coming up so fast, and I feel like I still have a million things to do to get ready. Last weekend was tough since I was all alone at home, this weekend I volunteered for OT at work on Sat and...

I was kinda hoping to find out I am not alone in wondering at this point (1 week to go) if I am making the right decision, or if I am just losing mind from lack of food.

    testing

Ok, I will admit at this point I am seriously sick of protein shakes, and am ready just to drink water for the rest of the time if needed. I made some sugar-free jello to break the pattern and it helps a bit, but I had a glass of skim milk for breakfast this morning because I couldn't face a...

    Recovery time-time off work.

The nurses in my Dr. office said that most people go back to soon and don't get the protein. I am going to take 4 weeks because that way I have time to get used to making sure I am eating correctly, which the nurses say is a job in and of itself. Don't rush things.

Finally, finally, finally got a date!

I am right there with you on the roller coaster before surgery. Don't give up! As far as work, just let him know you are having surgery for a "female" reason, and I promise he won't ask anymore questions on that subject.

    1 week to go

I need some help, this liquid diet is really hard for me. My stomach growls all the time it seems. I have tried drinking really slow and drinking really fast - neither helps. I have kinda been wondering, did anyone else have second thoughts? I am worried, scared, and excited all at the...
