Tomatoes

Hi There fellow Surgery Survivors!

Can anyone tell me when I can eat fresh tomatoes? I am 5 days post op and I was looking at the tomato garden my husband started this year. It is incredible - gigantic plants! Most tomatoes are still green. Some of the cherry tomatoes are turning read. I really want to eat some of them.

If they are cooked and skinned are they a soft food?

Any thoughts to share l will be grateful.

I was told that unless it went into a blender the answer was no. However, every Dr is different so make a call to your team. That is what they are there for. I have to skip tomato products for three months because of the potential for ulcers. I hope you are able to call and get the desired answer.

I was not allowed raw fruit/vegetables until stage IV, which was almost four months out. Every program is a little different, so check with your RD/nutritionist.

Try a little, you'll know soon enough if you are going to have issues, just go easy.
