Anyone else a late May/early June sleeve?!

I am home, finally my son got home with my meds. I was having some real pain. But I dissolved my pain med into some water and took it. Worked immediately! I can breathe deeply and it feels good.
Gas pain is not fun but I was given gas drops. 2 meds for nausea and stomach pain.
So glad that you have a remedy that is working a little bit! And so glad you are home! My surgery is exactly in a week so you're right ahead of me sis!

Hopefully, with each day you are farther away from the surgery, your pain will be noticeably less and you'll begin to feel stronger again. Wishing you a better day today!

Yay!! So glad to hear that it went well...and glad you've now got your pain meds!!! Rest, walk and heal well!! Lots of good, healing energy heading your way!!

So glad you are home where you can be more comfortable. Hospitals don’t let you truly relax and get the rest and recover like your need to. I have heard about the gas pains and am not looking forward to it myself. Keep us posted on how you are doing sweet lady
Hi Mandy, I'm good, actually today I'm feeling more myself, sort of like a turning point. My incisions are itchy. Gas seems to be my thing but the mylicon is helping. I have not had to take anything for nausea. Just moving and trying to get back to business here without doing too much. Keep us po

I'm new here. My date is 6/15 and starting to get nervous. My mom has been looking up mortality rates, etc. She's kind of freaking me out. Do the cravings really go away? You'll have to let me know how you do emotionally, i'm worried about depression which I hear is pretty common.

I don't have time right now, but please believe me, this surgery is about as dangerous as a root canal. Think positively.

Congratulations on your upcoming date!. My cravings went away by the end of my second week of preop liquids.
I can say first week of liquids I did pick a sm piece of this a half spoon of that but then realized I will only hurt myself if I have to either have my surgery cancelled or have full open because of my choice to not follow protocol.
I committed to follow my guidelines to make this the best and easiest and safest possible for me.
I do not preach or judge anyone for how they choose to move through their journey.
I had a lapband revision to bypass and am taking full advantage of having the hindsight of what I feel I did wrong first time around.
As far as mortality rates, don't look at those things they will scare you.
My husband was terrified for me to do this, part of it I truly believe is because I had so much trouble with eating while having the band and had so much acid, yet didn't really lose weight but yes on tge inches. Also he loves to eat and will miss his eating partner.
Also he told ne he's afraid I won't get the right nutrition but again we have to use this tool to our advantage and do EVERYTHING possible to ensure we are healthy and getting our correct nutrition. Vitamins, protein shakes, excercise etc.
I'm on liquids since the 24th, I'm not even hungry. Everyone is cooking and eating around me, it smells great but I'm on my own journey. I'm putting myself ahead of everyone else for once and it will eventually benefit them :)
Don't be nervous, you will do fine. Use this time before your surgery to get prepared. Get your clear liquids in the house for when you get home, bring some protein shakes in, you will need them before and after surgery. Get your vitamins in house, be sure they are meltaways or chewable.
This forum was amazing for support for things only we understand for me right before. So many of us are just ahead of you for support and you can read when our surgery was and how we are feeling
Good luck, relax and keep us posted

Thank you Karen. I know there are so many questions and worries as we approach what we are so excited about yet get nervous and scared about once the time comes. I think hearing others felt the same might ease the nerves.
We have to remember why we are doing this and keeping in mind this is just a tool not a miracle fix. It's going to be lifelong. Not short term. We can gain weight back if we do not keep in mind what we are doing.
I have now been researching pureed foods for my next step and foods that can be incorporated into family meals so that I will sort of be eating something they are eating as well. Very high protein, low fat casseroles, side dishes and vegetarian meals. My hubby has 3 stents so we will be sort of on the same path. We both will begin walking together of course he can be a bit more active than me for a bit so I can walk and he can bikeride.
My knee replacement surgery because of getting hit by a car in 2018 will be my next step toward the new me but that will likely be November. I will utilize my cane while walking.
It's to me about having a plan. Some call it lifestyle change, but that's so restrictive and hard for me to adapt in my brain. I live with a plan, plans can change depending on what comes up :)

Hi Al, ok very excited today! I slept in my bed last night which required me to go up a flight of stairs. I was very nervous about getting in and out of the bed. So since I only took pain meds 1x yesterday, I took one waiting 15 min then got into bed. Got comfortable felt so good...then realized I forgot to shut the light! Sheesh! So back up I got and shut the light and got back into bed! Hahaha! But dig this! I woke up at 10am!
I did get up 2x to use the bathroom, thank God my hubby put that in a couple of years ago! But back to bed I went and back to sleep.
Today, I took a shower got dressed in regular clothes except undies, just didn't want the stress of anything tight but I did put on my bra, socks and sneakers (slipons).
I am sitting in my normal chair not recliner getting up and down myself. Straightened up a bit still no meds.
The swelling might be going down since I am finally seeing the scale move down after going back up to 243 when I got home, tgey said it's possibly swelling as well as from the fluids they pushing in the hospital. So don't stress if you see weight gain. But I'm now at 234.6.
I think I'm going to go outside for a bit, it's a beautiful day.
Still trying to get fluids in. What they want me to have in the times they want is not possible for me but I am sipping protein shake and water alternatively. I'm only 5 days out so as time goes by and healing happens I will get better. I'm going my how my body feels not what I'm being told is expected. I did that yesterday and was very uncomfortable. I'm not putting myself at risk. I know my body and my body is not ready for all of it.
Don't worry I will get 55gms of protein in and I will get at least 40oz water in as well as multi vitamin 2x (already did one) and my calcium (already did one).

Great job and good updates! Glad you're doing well!!! I'm right behind you homegirl. Wednesday is my day!!! Good job listening to your body.l!

Good morning all! I did not sleep as well as the night before only because I couldn't get comfortable. I did eventually get some sleep but I don't feel as great as yesterday. I mean I'm feeling less pain if that's what you want to call it but it's not really pain. I don't know how to describe it. I sometimes do get some burning if I do too much in the incision I believe was to remove my port.

TMI ALERT!

So my worst fear has happened! I ad to move my bowels. Why you ask is this my worst fear? Reaching back to clean! I had been practicing because I knew it would happen at some point but just could not get there. Well I guess our bodies know what they are doing. Late yesterday afternoon I began to have terrible lower gas rumblings and I was lije oh boy thank God I'm home alone!
The loudest longest gas came out of me in my entire life I thing it was trapped in there for years lol because I was raised ladies don't do those things I always tried not to at least around people lol. Anyway also the worst smell in the world like a sewer! Lol
Then it happened I had to go and I did. I was having stretching uncomfortable pulling as I reached to clean. Buy I found something to help.
I dont think guys have this but ladies who have weight (and even when we dont but this is related to those of us with weight)all have what my Sicilian grandmother called a "Guaduma" now I'm sure the spelling is off but thats how it's pronounced. It's the belly below the middle belly, you know our lap belly lol.
So I used me left hand to pull my guaduma up as I reached back and Boom! I did it! I was able to clean myself with no pulling ot pain! So that's my tip of the day! Lol
