I thought it would be interesting to have a place to share how our tastes for certain foods and beverages have changed since surgery.
I no longer like: black olives, green peppers.
I liked the following before surgery but like them even better now: cheez-it crackers, apples, cheese, eggs, cabbage, salads, coffee. I can't go a day without eating cheese. My favorites are cheddar, colby, swiss, muenster, cottage cheese. I like American cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich and feta in salads and spinach pie. I like cottage cheese for a snack by itself or on top of a piece of light whole grain toast for breakfast. I like swiss and cheddar with an apple.
I like the taste of garlic in certain dishes but now find it so overpowering that I can only use a fraction of what I used to. I can now detect the taste of garlic in pre-made foods that I never realized had it in them before. I also find myself using half the amount of sweetener than I used to because it tastes sweeter to me now.
I no longer crave bread, pasta, (especially ramen noodles), potatoes, pizza, rice.
