    Reaching 6 months post op

Hard to believe it has almost been 6 months. It seems so long ago. I know everyone's program varies, but in my doctor's office - those first six months were protein only. Tomorrow I get to add fruits and veggies for the first time. I couldn't be happier - both with the additional food...

Do yourself a favor and get out a measuring tape

One of the things I really wish I had done was get out the measuring tape and get some "before" measurements. I do have one blouse I got at work (logo wear). When I got it 6 months ago, I couldn't button the bottom button. I wore it today and it is very loose. So, I know that with the scale...

    Outings

Last weekend my son and I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. It was pretty exciting, I was able to "buckle up" in every ride I wanted to ride. And we walked and walked. On the drive home, we stopped at Denny's. I don't know if any of the rest of you received a "restaurant card" from your...

    3 weeks post op

I am three weeks post op and back to work in the morning. I've managed the food with no problem. Still struggling with the fluids. I am hoping that when I am at my desk tomorrow and "stuck" in one place, the fluids will be easier. I just hope that I have no problem getting up and ready for...

    almost two weeks post oo

I am actually glad to still be in the 2-week post op diet my doctor has me on. My parents arrived yesterday; my granddaughter today and I sure can see my old stressors would be hard at work if I didn't know I could turn away from food. I even wen tout to dinner tonight with the other...

    One day post op

I had my surgery yesterday morning. Everything went well. The Dr did discover a hernia while in there and fixed that. I woke up in recovery around 1:30 or 2:00 but didn't get to a room until 7:00 pm pain is manageable. The hernia repair is more tender than the other. I've been doing laps...

    Three more days

The good news/bad news - The week is going very quickly / I've already put in 7 hours of OT and I know that I have a full day in store for tomorrow and will probably have to go into work on Sunday to tie up loose ends.

    Restlessness??

Has anyone else been experiencing restlessness? I thought with the pre-op diet I'd be sluggish. This is a four day weekend for me and it is driving me crazy. Last night I finally went to bed around 12:30 and was up early this morning. I've been cleaning house and working on some projects. I...

Count down to surgery - 11 days

Final appointment with the Surgeon today. Currently my surgery is scheduled for 10:00am on the 9th. I am pre-registered and my co-pay has been paid. The head nurse gave me a nice tour of the surgery center, explained what to expect. Only thing I didn't see was the actually OR or the room I'll...

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow

I have seen a lot of different pre-op plans being posted by others. I know that no one plan is right or wrong - just what your own doctor prefers. I will be able to have one meal per day with solid food (protein only) to go with the 3 protein shakes. I cooked my turkey today so I could have...

    Count down - 16 days.

Since my surgery is now just 16 days away, my work has had to start arranging coverage for me. An email went out that simply said I would be out on medical leave. Of course that has resulted in a few phone calls. I have gone with my instincts about what info to share. I can say that for the...

    Vitamins

I start my pre-op diet on 11/25. Also, I was getting to the point where I need to start refilling some of my vitamins. (At least it isn't all at once like in the beginning). I thought I'd try grinding the vitamins to see how that'd work. IT DID NOT!!!! I may need to research some of...

Tenative Surgery Date - Dec 9

The surgery scheduler was out today so not official, but I've cleared all the hurdles. Tentative date is Dec 9. I'll know for sure tomorrow afternoon. I have extra incentive to get it done before the end of they year. Our insurance changes on January 1 and it will cost more in January.

    Doctor set goal today!

I only have 8 more pounds to go before a surgery date will be scheduled. One whole month with no soda, or caffeine. If I can survive that, 8 pounds will be a breeze.:D I am not a fan of the "waiting" game, but I think I will be busy enough to not notice.

    New to the group

I've cleared my psych evaluation and dietician, just waiting for a surgery date. I haven't told anyone I am doing this. Curious to know how others have dealt with the "questions". Obviously co-workers will know something is up when I am off for the surgery. A few years ago I had a family...
